And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?” 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 Ye and your forefathers! 76 they are all my enemies, not so the Lord of the Universe, 77 Who created me and Who guides me; 78 He who gives me food and drink; 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 "And Who will cause me to die, and then will bring me to life (again); 81 And who, I hope, will condone my faults on the Day of Judgement. 82 [And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous. 83 And ordain for me a goodly mention among posterity 84 and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, 85 And forgive my father, verily he is of the erring; 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 When Paradise shall be brought near to the God-fearing 90 And the Fierce Fire shall be made apparent unto the seduced ones. 91 And it shall be said unto them where is that which ye were wont to worship? 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 "By Allah, we were surely in clear error 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Universe. 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 and we have no intercessors now, 100 nor any loving friend. 101 If we could only return to the world and be among the believers." 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Ever Compassionate. 104
