And recount to them the story of Abraham: 69 [how it was] when he asked his father and his people, "What is it that you worship?" 70 They said: "We worship idols, and we remain constantly in attendance on them." 71 He asked them, "Can the idols hear you when you pray to them 72 or can they benefit or harm you?" 73 They answered: "No; but we found our forefathers doing so." 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 Ye and your fathers of old? 76 Verily they are an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the worlds. 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 "And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink. 79 And when I am ill, it is He who cures me 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 "O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 and grant me the power to convey the truth unto those who will come after me, 84 "And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity." 85 and forgive my father; for he is one of the misguided; 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 Paradise will be brought near those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path; 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 And it shall be said unto them where is that which ye were wont to worship? 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 They will then be thrown into Hell with those who had gone astray 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 They will say while they dispute therein, 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 nor any loving friend. 101 If only we could return and be among the believers!" 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 And indeed your Lord - only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
