Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 when he said to his father and his people, 'What do you serve?' 70 They answered: We worship idols, and we remain ever devoted to them." 71 He asked, "Do they hear you when you call to them? 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus." 74 He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,- 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 they are all my enemies, not so the Lord of the Universe, 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 and heals me when I am sick. 80 “And He will give me death, then resurrect me.” 81 "And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment. 82 My Lord! Bestow Hukman (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 and make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 Forgive my father. He has gone astray. 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 "The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 Paradise will be brought near those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path; 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 "And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped- 92 besides God? Will the idols help you? Can they help themselves?" 93 So they shall be thrown down into it, they and the erring ones, 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 “When we considered you equal to the Lord Of The Creation.” 98 And none but the guilty led us astray; 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 nor any loving friend. 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe. 103 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
