'Aad denied the messengers 123 When their brother Hud said to them: "Will you not fear Allah and obey Him? 124 Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you, 125 so fear you God, and obey you me. 126 And I ask of you no hire therefor: my hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 127 Do you construct on every elevation a sign, amusing yourselves, 128 and make for yourselves mighty castles, [hoping] that you might become immortal? 129 and when you strike you strike like tyrants? 130 So fear you God, and obey you me; 131 Keep your duty toward Him Who hath aided you with (the good things) that ye know, 132 He has bestowed on you cattle, and sons, 133 And gardens and springs. 134 Lo! I fear for you the retribution of an awful day. 135 They said: "It is the same to us if you warn us or do not warn. 136 This is but a custom of the ancients. 137 And we shall not be doomed. 138 And they denied him; therefor We destroyed them. Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers. 139 And verily thy Lord? He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
