And convey unto them the story of Abraham 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They answered: We worship idols, and we remain ever devoted to them." 71 He said: Do they hear you when ye cry? 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 He said, 'And have you considered what you have been serving, 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, 77 "Who has created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 He who gives me food and drink; 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 “And He will give me death, then resurrect me.” 81 Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." 82 My Lord! Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous. 83 "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); 84 Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss 85 and forgive my father, for he was among the astray. 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 the Day when nothing will avail, neither wealth nor offspring, 88 but only he that brings to Allah a sound heart will (attain to success)." 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 And hell will be revealed for the astray. 91 And it will be said to them, “Where are those whom you used to worship?” 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 "By God, we were most obviously astray 97 "'When we held you as equals with the Lord of the Worlds; 98 And none led us astray except the culprits. 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 Would that we might return again, and be among the believers' 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
