Alshu'araa' 7 of 11

The 'Aad belied the sent ones. 123 When their brother Hud said unto them: Will ye not ward off (evil)? 124 "Verily! I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 I seek of you no reward for this; my reward is with none but the Lord of the Universe. 127 What, you build a monument on every hill merely for fun 128 and do you take to you castles, haply to dwell forever? 129 When you assault, you assault like tyrants! 130 So fear you God, and obey you me; 131 And fear He who provided you with that which you know, 132 Who has provided you with flocks and children 133 And gardens and springs. 134 I fear the punishment of a terrible day for you. 135 They said: It is the same to us whether you admonish or are not one of the admonishers 136 This is but a custom of the ancients. 137 And we are not going to be tormented. 138 And so they gave him the lie: and thereupon We destroyed them. In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 139 And lo! thy Lord, He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
