The 'Aad belied the sent ones. 123 When their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear Allah? 124 I am a trustworthy messenger for you: 125 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 126 I ask no recompense of you for it. My reward is due from none but the Lord of all the worlds. 127 "Do you build useless monuments on every mountain 128 "And do you get for yourselves palaces (fine buildings) as if you will live therein for ever. 129 and when you strike you strike like tyrants? 130 “Therefore fear Allah, and obey me.” 131 “Fear Him Who has aided you with the things you know.” 132 Provided you with grazing livestock and children 133 gardens and fountains. 134 Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day." 135 They said: It is all one to us whether thou preachest or art not of those who preach; 136 This is just a habit of antiquated people. 137 We will not be subjected to any chastisement." 138 So they gave him the lie, then We destroyed them. Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 139 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 140
