The prople of Lout (Lot) (those dwelt in the towns of Sodom in Palestine) belied the Messengers. 160 When their brother Lot said to them: "Will you not take heed? 161 I am for you a faithful Messenger, 162 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 163 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage is only with the Lord of the Worlds. 164 What, of all creation will you go to (fornicate with) the males, 165 and leave your wives whom your Lord has created for you? You are a people who transgress all bounds." 166 They said: If you desist not, O Lut! you shall surely be of those who are expelled. 167 He said: Surely I am of those who utterly abhor your doing; 168 Lord, save me and my family from their deeds." 169 We saved him and all of his family 170 Except one old woman, who stayed behind. 171 then We totally destroyed the rest, 172 and We sent upon them a rain, an evil rain that fell on those who had been warned. 173 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 174 Yet surely your Lord is mighty and powerful. 175
