The people of Lut rejected the messengers. 160 When their brother Lut said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 161 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 162 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me: 163 I ask of you no recompense for this; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 164 Go ye in, of all creatures, unto the males? 165 And leave what your Lord has created for you as mates? But you are a people transgressing." 166 They said: If thou cease not, O Lot, thou wilt soon be of the outcast. 167 (Lot) said: "I am disgusted with your actions," 168 My Lord, save me and my family from their evil doings." 169 We saved him and all of his family 170 Save an old woman among those who stayed behind. 171 and then We utterly destroyed the others, 172 by pouring upon them a terrible shower of rain. How evil was the rain for those who had been warned! 173 Surely, in that there is a sign. Yet most of them do not believe. 174 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 175
