The dwellers of the thicket gave the lie to the apostles. 176 When Shu'aib (Shuaib) said to them: "Will you not fear Allah (and obey Him)? 177 "I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 178 So keep your duty to Allah and obey me. 179 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds. 180 ۞ Give full measure, and be not of those who cause others to lose. 181 And weigh with a balance straight. 182 and diminish not the goods of the people, and do not mischief in the earth, working corruption. 183 Have fear of the One who has created you and the generations that lived before you." 184 They said: "Surely you are deluded. 185 You are only a human being like ourselves. Indeed we think you are a liar. 186 So cause thou a fragment of the heaven to fall upon us, if thou art of the truth-tellers. 187 He said, 'My Lord knows very well what you are doing.' 188 In response they denied him – therefore the punishment of the day of the tent* seized them; that was indeed a punishment of a Great Day. (The clouds formed a tent and rained fire upon them). 189 Lo! herein is indeed a portent; yet most of them are not believers. 190 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate. 191
