The dwellers of the Thicket belied their Messengers. 176 When Shu'aib said to them: "Will you not take heed? 177 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 178 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 179 “And I do not ask from you any fee for it; my reward is only upon the Lord Of The Creation.” 180 ۞ "[Always] give full measure, and be not among those who [unjustly] cause loss [to others]; 181 And weigh (things) with a right balance, 182 "And defraud not people by reducing their things, nor do evil, making corruption and mischief in the land. 183 And fear He who created you and the former creation." 184 They replied, "You are bewitched. 185 You are but a man like ourselves, and indeed, we think you are among the liars. 186 So cause thou a fragment of the heaven to fall upon us, if thou art of the truth-tellers. 187 He said, "My Lord has full knowledge of all your actions." 188 But they cried him lies; then there seized them the chastisement of the Day of Shadow; assuredly it was the chastisement of a dreadful day. 189 In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 190 Your Lord is Majestic and All-merciful. 191
