[AND] the dwellers of the wooded dales [of Madyan] gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 176 When Shu'ayb said to them, "Will you not fear Allah? 177 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you; 178 So fear Allah and obey me. 179 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds. 180 ۞ Fill up the measure, do not be among the cheats, 181 and weigh with the straight scale, 182 “And do not give the people their goods diminished, and do not roam the earth causing turmoil.” 183 Have fear of the One who has created you and the generations that lived before you." 184 They said, “You are under a magic spell.” 185 You are but a human like ourselves, we think that you are one of the liars. 186 "So cause a piece of the heaven to fall on us, if you are of the truthful!" 187 (Shu'aib) said: "My Lord knows well what you are doing." 188 But they gave him the lie. And thereupon suffering overtook them on a day dark with shadows: and verily, it was the suffering of an awesome day! 189 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 190 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate. 191
