Has there not been over man a period of time, when he was nothing to be mentioned? 1 Lo! We create man from a drop of thickened fluid to test him; so We make him hearing, knowing. 2 Surely We showed him the Right Path, regardless of whether he chooses to be thankful or unthankful (to his Lord). 3 Verily, We have prepared for the disbelievers iron chains, iron collars, and a blazing Fire. 4 Surely the pious shall drink of a cup whose mixture is camphor, 5 A spring of which the [righteous] servants of Allah will drink; they will make it gush forth in force [and abundance]. 6 The servants of God fulfill their vows and are afraid of the day in which there will be widespread terror. 7 And feed the needy for the love of Him, and the orphans and the captives, 8 "We only feed you for the sake of God and we do not want any reward or thanks from you. 9 We are afraid of our Lord and the bitterly distressful day". 10 Wherefore Allah shall preserve them from the evil of that Day, and shall cause them to meet brightness and joy. 11 and recompense them for their patience with a Garden, and robes of silk. 12 Reclining in it, upon thrones; they will not see the hot sunshine in it, nor the bitter cold. 13 The shadows will bend over them, and low will hang the clusters of grapes. 14 And amongst them will be passed round vessels of silver and cups of crystal, 15 (Transparent as) glass, made of silver; they have measured them according to a measure. 16 And they will be given to drink a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of ginger 17 (The water of) a spring therein, named Salsabil. 18 ۞ There boys of everlasting youth shall go about attending them: when you see them, you would think that they are scattered pearls. 19 And when thou lookest, it is there thou wilt see a Bliss and a Realm Magnificent. 20 Upon them shall be green garments of silk and brocade; they are adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall give them to drink a pure draught. 21 It will be said to them, “This is your reward – indeed your efforts have been appreciated.” 22
