This surely is a revelation from the Lord of the Universe: 192 The Trusted Spirit hath brought it down. 193 Upon thy heart, that thou mayest be of the warners, 194 In plain Arabic language. 195 And indeed it is mentioned in the earlier Books. 196 Is not the fact (that the Israelite scholars already knew about the Quran through their Book) sufficient evidence for the pagans of the truthfulness (of the Quran)? 197 And if We had revealed it (this Quran) unto any of the non-Arabs, 198 who would have read it to them, they (pagans) would not have believed in it. 199 Even so, We have caused it to enter into the hearts of harmdoers: 200 They will not believe in it until they clearly see the grievous chastisement. 201 And it shall come to them all of a sudden, while they shall not perceive; 202 They will therefore say, “Will we get some respite?” 203 Do they want to hasten Our torment? 204 Do you not see that even if We give them respite for years 205 Then there comes to them that with which they are threatened, 206 Of what avail shall their enjoyment be to them? 207 And We did not destroy any town but it had (its) warners, 208 By way of reminder, and We have never been unjust. 209 And it is not the Shayatin (devils) who have brought it (this Quran) down, 210 they are not supposed to do so. Nor do have they the ability for such a task. 211 Indeed they are debarred from even hearing it. 212 So call on no other god but God, lest you are condemned to torment; 213 And warn your nearest relations, 214 and extend kindness and affection to those of the believers who follow you. 215 Then if they disobey thee, say: "I am free (of responsibility) for what ye do!" 216 And put thy trust on the Exalted in Might, the Merciful,- 217 Who seeth thee when thou standest up 218 And thy movements among those who fall prostrate. 219 He is All-hearing and All-knowing." 220 Shall I inform you, (O people!), on whom it is that the evil ones descend? 221 They descend upon every lying, sinful one, 222 They listen eagerly, but most of them are liars. 223 And the poets -- the perverse follow them; 224 See you not that they speak about every subject (praising others right or wrong) in their poetry? 225 And they speak what they do not do? 226 Except those who believe and do the right, and remember God a great deal, who retaliate only when they have been wronged. Yet the oppressors will now come to know through what reversals they will be overthrown! 227
