Verily this is a Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds: 192 Which the trusted spirit descended with 193 into your heart, so that you may be a warner, 194 In the perspicuous Arabic tongue. 195 (a revelation embodied) in the scriptures of the ancients. 196 Is it not a sign unto them that the learned among the Children of Isra'il know it? 197 And if We had revealed it (this Quran) unto any of the non-Arabs, 198 In order that he read it to them, even then they would not have believed in it. 199 Even so We have caused it to enter into the hearts of the sinners, 200 they will not believe in it till they behold the grievous suffering 201 The torment will strike them suddenly without their knowledge. 202 Then they will say: are we to be respited? 203 Do they want to hasten Our punishment? 204 Seest thou? If We do let them enjoy (this life) for a few years, 205 and then what they were promised comes to them, 206 So of what benefit will be the comforts that they were using? 207 And withal, never have We destroyed any community unless it had been warned 208 To warn. For We are never unjust. 209 And this Qur’an was not brought down by the devils. 210 And it behoves them not, and they have not the power to do (it). 211 Lo! verily they are banished from the hearing. 212 So do not call upon another god with Allah, lest you should be one of those who are punished. 213 And warn your tribe (O Muhammad SAW) of near kindred. 214 and lower your wing to the believers who follow you. 215 But if they disobey you, then say: Surely I am clear of what you do. 216 And rely thou upon the Mighty, the Merciful. 217 who sees you when you stand up [for prayer], 218 And your movement among those who prostrate. 219 Surely He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing. 220 Shall I inform you, (O people!), on whom it is that the evil ones descend? 221 They descend on every guilty impostor. 222 Who listens to you (for spreading rumours); but most of them are liars. 223 And the Poets,- It is those straying in Evil, who follow them: 224 Have you not seen that they wander distract in every valley, 225 and how they say that which they do not? 226 Except those who believe and do the right, and remember God a great deal, who retaliate only when they have been wronged. Yet the oppressors will now come to know through what reversals they will be overthrown! 227
