Truly it is the revelation of the Lord of all Being, 192 the Faithful Spirit has brought it down 193 Upon thy heart, that thou mayst be (one) of the warners, 194 In the perspicuous Arabic tongue. 195 Truly it is in the Scriptures of the ancients. 196 Is it not a sign to them that the learned men of the Israelites know it? 197 If We had revealed it to a nonArab, 198 they would still not have believed in it. 199 This is how We have made (the habit of) denying embedded in the hearts of the guilty. 200 they will not believe in it until they see the grievous punishment. 201 But the (Penalty) will come to them of a sudden, while they perceive it not; 202 They will say, "Can we be granted any respite?" 203 Do they, then, [really] wish that Our chastisement be hastened on? 204 Have you then considered if We let them enjoy themselves for years, 205 and then Our torment will strike them, 206 So of what benefit will be the comforts that they were using? 207 And We destroyed not a city but it had its warners. 208 By way of reminder; and We never are unjust. 209 No evil ones have brought down this (Revelation): 210 And it behoves them not, and they have not the power to do (it). 211 Most surely they are far removed from the hearing of it. 212 So call thou not upon another god with God, lest thou shouldst be one of those that are chastised. 213 And warn thy clan, thy nearest kin. 214 And lower thy wing to the Believers who follow thee. 215 But if they disobey you, then say: Surely I am clear of what you do. 216 Put your trust in the Mighty One, the Merciful, 217 Who seeth thee standing forth (in prayer), 218 and when thou turnest about among those who bow. 219 He is All-Hearing, All-Knowing. 220 Shall I inform you (of him) upon whom the Shaitans descend? 221 They come down to every mendacious sinner, 222 Who listens to you (for spreading rumours); but most of them are liars. 223 And as for the poets -- it is the misled who follow them. 224 Hast thou not seen how they stray in every valley, 225 and they say what they do not do? 226 Save those who believed and worked righteous works and remembered Allah much, and vindicated themselves after they had been wronged. And anon those who do wrong shall come to know with what a translating they shall be translated. 227
