Verily this is a Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds: 192 The Trustworthy Spirit has brought it down 193 To thy heart and mind, that thou mayest admonish. 194 In a clear Arabic language. 195 Without doubt it is (announced) in the mystic Books of former peoples. 196 Is not the fact (that the Israelite scholars already knew about the Quran through their Book) sufficient evidence for the pagans of the truthfulness (of the Quran)? 197 And had We sent it down upon a person other than an Arab, 198 who would have read it to them, they (pagans) would not have believed in it. 199 We have thus caused denial of truth to enter into the hearts of the sinners: 200 They will not believe in it to the extent that they see the painful punishment. 201 It will come upon them unawares, and they will not comprehend it. 202 They will therefore say, “Will we get some respite?” 203 What, do they seek to hasten Our chastisement? 204 Have you then considered if We let them enjoy themselves for years, 205 Yet there comes to them at length the (Punishment) which they were promised! 206 They would not be availed by the enjoyment with which they were provided. 207 And withal, never have We destroyed any community unless it had been warned 208 as a reminder from Us: We are never unjust. 209 No evil ones have brought down this (Revelation): 210 It would neither suit them nor would they be able (to produce it). 211 The satans are barred from listening to anything from the heavens. 212 So do not call any other god beside Allah lest you become of those who will be punished, 213 Warn your nearest kinsmen, 214 And spread your wing of mercy for the believers following you. 215 And if they disobey you, then say, "Indeed, I am disassociated from what you are doing." 216 And put your trust in the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful, 217 who sees thee when thou standest 218 and [sees] thy behaviour among those who prostrate themselves [before Him]: 219 He is the All Hearing, the All Knowing. 220 Should I tell you on whom the devils descend? 221 They descend on every forgerer steeped in sin, 222 The satans try to listen to the heavens but many of them are liars. 223 And the poets -- the perverse follow them; 224 Art thou not aware that they roam confusedly through all the valleys [of words and thoughts,] 225 And that they say that which they do not do, 226 except those who believed and acted righteously and remembered Allah much, and when they themselves were subjected to wrong, they exacted retribution no more than to the extent of the wrong? Soon will the wrong-doers know the end that they shall reach. 227
