And truly, this (the Quran) is a revelation from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists), 192 The honest Spirit (Gabriel) brought it down 193 Upon your heart, [O Muhammad] - that you may be of the warners - 194 In the perspicuous Arabic tongue. 195 Truly, it is in the Books of the ancients. 196 Is it not a Sign to them that the Learned of the Children of Israel knew it (as true)? 197 And if We had revealed it unto one of any other nation than the Arabs, 198 and had he recited it unto them [in his own tongue,] they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus do We cause (unbelief) to enter the hearts of sinners. 200 They will not believe in it till they behold the painful doom, 201 But the (Penalty) will come to them of a sudden, while they perceive it not; 202 Then they will exclaim, "Could we have some respite?" 203 Do they then ask for Our Penalty to be hastened on? 204 Did you consider that if We were to let them enjoy life for many years 205 And then what they were promised comes upon them, 206 none of their luxuries will be able to save them from the torment? 207 And withal, never have We destroyed any community unless it had been warned 208 and reminded: for, never do We wrong [anyone]. 209 It was not the devils who brought down the Quran: 210 nor does it behove them, nor does it lie in their power. 211 Indeed they have been removed far from even (a chance of) hearing it. 212 Hence, [O man,] do not invoke any other deity side by side with God, lest thou find thyself among those who are made to suffer [on Judgment Day]. 213 And warn your near relations, 214 and spread the wings of thy tenderness over all of the believers who may follow thee; 215 If they disobey you, say: 'I am quit of what you do' 216 Put your trust in the Almighty, the Most Merciful, 217 Who sees you when you stand up. 218 And your turning over and over among those who prostrate themselves before Allah. 219 Verily He! He is the Hearer, the Knower. 220 O people, shall I tell you on whom it is that satans descend? 221 They descend on every lying, wicked person, 222 Who gives ear (to the devils and they pour what they may have heard of the unseen from the angels), and most of them are liars. 223 And the astray follow the poets. 224 Observest thou not, that they wander about every vale. 225 and preaching what they themselves never practice. 226 Except those who believe and do the right, and remember God a great deal, who retaliate only when they have been wronged. Yet the oppressors will now come to know through what reversals they will be overthrown! 227
