Indeed this is a revelation from the Lord of the Universe; 192 The Trusted Spirit hath brought it down. 193 upon thy heart, that thou mayest be one of the warners, 194 It has been revealed in plain Arabic. 195 Truly, it is in the Books of the ancients. 196 And has it not been a sign to them that it is recognized by the scholars of the Children of Israel? 197 And had We revealed it unto any of the non-Arabs, 198 and he had recited it to them, they would not have believed in it. 199 We have thus caused denial of truth to enter into the hearts of the sinners: 200 they will not believe in it till they behold the grievous suffering 201 It will come upon them suddenly when they are not expecting it. 202 Then they will exclaim, "Could we have some respite?" 203 Do they wish to hasten Our punishment? 204 Seest thou? If We do let them enjoy (this life) for a few years, 205 And then there cometh unto them that which they had been promised. 206 Of what avail shall their enjoyment be to them? 207 And We destroyed not a city but it had its warners. 208 By way of reminder, and We have never been unjust. 209 No evil ones have brought down this (Revelation): 210 It behoveth them not, nor they can. 211 verily, [even] from hearing it are they utterly debarred! 212 So call on no other god but God, lest you are condemned to torment; 213 And warn your nearest relations, 214 And spread your wing of mercy for the believers following you. 215 If they do not obey you, tell them: "I am not responsible for what you do." 216 Have trust in the Majestic and All-merciful God, 217 Who seeth thee when thou standest up 218 And watches your movements among those who prostrate in prayer. 219 He is All-hearing and All-knowing." 220 Shall I inform you (O people!) upon whom the Shayatin (devils) descend? 221 They descend upon every sinful liar. 222 who readily lend ear [to every falsehood,] and most of whom lie to others as well. 223 Poets are followed by the perverse. 224 Do you not see that in every valley they roam 225 and how they say that which they do not? 226 except those who believed and acted righteously and remembered Allah much, and when they themselves were subjected to wrong, they exacted retribution no more than to the extent of the wrong? Soon will the wrong-doers know the end that they shall reach. 227
