Stories (Al-Qasas)

TaSeenMeem. 1 These are verses of the Manifest Book. 2 We shall narrate to you some of the story of Moses and Pharaoh, with truth, for people who would believe. 3 Lo! Pharaoh exalted himself in the earth and made its people castes. A tribe among them he oppressed, killing their sons and sparing their women. Lo! he was of those who work corruption. 4 And We wanted to confer favor upon those who were oppressed in the land and make them leaders and make them inheritors 5 and to grant them power in the land, and make Pharaoh and Haman and their hosts see what they had feared. 6 And We inspired the mother of Musa, saying: suckle him, then when thou fearest for him, cast him into the river and fear not, nor grieve. Verily We are going to restore him unto thee, and shall make him one of the sent ones. 7 And the family of Pharaoh picked him up [out of the river] so that he would become to them an enemy and a [cause of] grief. Indeed, Pharaoh and Haman and their soldiers were deliberate sinners. 8 And the wife of Pharaoh said, "[He will be] a comfort of the eye for me and for you. Do not kill him; perhaps he may benefit us, or we may adopt him as a son." And they perceived not. 9 The heart of Moses' mother was relieved and confident. But she would almost have made the whole matter public had We not strengthened her heart with faith. 10 She said to Moses' sister, "Go, and follow him." So she watched him from a distance, like a stranger, without anyone noticing her. 11 ۞ And We had already forbidden suckle-nurses for him, so she said, “Shall I show you a household that will nurse this child of yours, and they are his well-wishers?” 12 So We returned him to his mother in order to soothe her eyes and not grieve, and to know that Allah’s promise is true – but most people do not know. 13
