Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 In a lofty garden, 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
