۞ So when Moosa completed his term and was travelling with his wife, he saw a fire in the direction of the Mount (Sinai); he said to his wife “Stay here – I have sighted a fire in the direction of the mount – perhaps I may bring you some news from it, or an ember so that you may warm yourselves.” 29 But when he came to the fire, a cry was heard from the right bank of the valley, from a tree in the hallowed ground: "O Moses, verily I am Allah, the Lord of all creatures of the Universe." 30 Throw down your staff." When he saw it wriggling like a serpent, he turned about and fled without turning. "O Moses, approach," (said the Voice), "and have no fear. You will be safe. 31 Enter your hand into the opening of your bosom, it will come forth white without evil, and draw your hand to yourself to ward off fear: so these two shall be two arguments from your Lord to Firon and his chiefs, surely they are a transgressing people. 32 Said he, 'My Lord, I have indeed slain a living soul among them, and I fear that they will slay me. 33 And my brother, Haroun, he is more eloquent of tongue than I, therefore send him with me as an aider, verifying me: surely I fear that they would reject me. 34 He said: We will strengthen thine arm with thy brother, and We will give unto you both power so that they cannot reach you for Our portents. Ye twain, and those who follow you, will be the winners. 35 When Moses came to them with Our clear signs, they said, "This is nothing but contrived magic. We never heard of this among our forefathers." 36 But Moses said: "My Lord knows well who has come with guidance from Him, and for whom is the guerdon of Paradise. But surely the wicked will not prosper." 37 The Pharaoh said, "My people, I know no one who could be your lord besides myself. Haman, construct for me a tower of baked bricks so that I may climb on it and see the God of Moses; I think he is a liar." 38 And he waxed proud in the land, he and his hosts, wrongfully; and they thought they should not be returned to Us. 39 Therefore, We seized him and his hosts, and cast them into the sea. See how was the end of the harmdoers. 40 And We made them leaders calling to the Fire, and on the Day of Resurrection they shall not be succoured. 41 And We caused a curse to follow them in this world, and on the day of resurrection they shall be of those made to appear hideous. 42
