The Spider (Al-Ankaboot)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ ALIF LAM MIM. 1 Do the people reckon that they will be left to say 'We believe,' and will not be tried? 2 Yea, indeed, We did test those who lived before them; and so, [too, shall be tested the people now living: and] most certainly will God mark out those who prove themselves true, and most certainly will He mark out those who are lying. 3 Or do they who commit evil deeds imagine that they can escape from Us? What an evil judgement they impose! 4 Whoever should hope for the meeting with Allah - indeed, the term decreed by Allah is coming. And He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 5 He who strives does so for himself. Verily God is independent of the creatures of the world. 6 And those who believe, and do righteous deeds, We shall surely acquit them of their evil deeds, and shall recompense them the best of what they were doing. 7 And We have enjoined on man goodness to his parents, and if they contend with you that you should associate (others) with Me, of which you have no knowledge, do not obey them, to Me is your return, so I will inform you of what you did. 8 We shall admit those who believe and do the right among the righteous. 9 Among people there are some who say: “We believe in Allah.” But when such a person is made to endure suffering in Allah's cause, he reckons the persecution he suffers at the hands of people as though it is a chastisement from Allah. But if victory comes from your Lord, the same person will say “We were with you.” Does Allah not know whatever is in the hearts of the people of the world? 10 And Allah will surely make evident those who believe, and He will surely make evident the hypocrites. 11 And those who disbelieve say to those who believe: Follow our path and we will bear your wrongs. And never shall they be the bearers of any of their wrongs; most surely they are liars. 12 And they will surely bear their own burdens and some other burdens along with their own; and they will undoubtedly be questioned on the Day of Resurrection concerning what they had fabricated. 13
