He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind came to him. 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 And hath fear, 9 you pay him no heed. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 and angelic scribes. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 and dense orchards, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
