The Romans (Al-Room)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif. Lam. Mim. 1 The Byzantines have been defeated 2 In the nearest land. But they, after their defeat, will overcome. 3 Within a few years. Allah's is the command before and after; and on that day the believers shall rejoice, 4 With the help of Allah, He helps whom He wills, and He is the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 5 This is Allah's promise; and Allah faileth not His promise. Yet most men know not. 6 They know the outward of this world's life, but of the hereafter they are absolutely heedless. 7 Ponder they not in their minds: Allah hath not created the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is in-between the twain save with a purpose and for a term appointed? And verily many men in the meeting of their Lord are unbelievers. 8 Have they not travelled through the land to see how terrible was the end of the people who lived before them. The people who lived before them were stronger than them in might, in tilling, and in developing the earth. Our Messengers came to them with clear miracles. God did not do an injustice to them but they wronged themselves. 9 Evil was the end of the harmdoers, because they belied the verses of Allah and mocked at them. 10
