The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Read (Prophet Muhammad) in the Name of your Lord who created, 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous - 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Indeed, surely the human is very insolent 6 As he bethinkest himself selfsufficient. 7 Verily, to thy Lord is the return (of all). 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 A slave when he prayeth? 10 What will happen if the praying person is rightly guided 11 Or enjoins Righteousness? 12 What will happen if the prohibiting rejects the Truth and turns away from it!? 13 Does he not realize that God sees him? 14 Let him beware! If he does not desist, We will drag him by the forelock -- 15 By the lying, the sinful forelock. 16 So let him call on his concourse! 17 We will now call the guards! 18 Yes indeed; do not listen to him and prostrate, and become close to Us. (Command of Prostration # 14) ۩ 19

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
