Let the dead earth be a Sign for them. We gave it life and produced from it grain whereof they eat. 33 And We have made therein gardens of date-palms and grapes, and We have caused springs of water to gush forth therein. 34 that they might eat of its fruits. It was not their hands that made them. Will they not, then, give thanks? 35 Purity is to Him Who created all pairs, from what the earth grows, and of themselves, and from the things they do not know. 36 And a sign for them is the night. We remove from it [the light of] day, so they are [left] in darkness. 37 And the sun runneth on unto a resting-place for him. That is the measuring of the Mighty, the Wise. 38 And for the moon We have appointed mansions till she return like an old shrivelled palm-leaf. 39 It is not for the sun to catch up with the moon, nor does the night surpass the day; and each one of them floats in its orbit. 40 And a sign for them is that We carried their forefathers in a laden ship. 41 And We have created for them the like of it in which they board. 42 Should We so wish, We can drown them, and there will be none to heed their cries of distress, nor will they be rescued. 43 But (by) mercy from Us and for enjoyment till a time. 44 When it is said unto them: Beware of that which is before you and that which is behind you, that haply ye may find mercy (they are heedless). 45 Never does any Sign of their Lord come to them, but they turn away from it. 46 And when it is said to them: "Spend of that with which Allah has provided you," those who disbelieve say to those who believe: "Shall we feed those whom, if Allah willed, He (Himself) would have fed? You are only in a plain error." 47 And they say: "When will this promise come to pass, if what you say is true?" 48 They await not but one shout, which shall lay hold of them while they are yet wrangling. 49 Therefore neither able to make a will, nor returning to their homes. 50
