۞ Gather together the evildoers, their wives, and that they were worshipping, 22 Besides Allah, then lead them to the way to hell. 23 and stop them there for questioning: 24 "Why help you not one another?" 25 Nay, but that day they shall submit (to Judgment); 26 but [since it will be too late,] they will turn upon one another, demanding of each other [to relieve them of the burden of their past sins]. 27 They shall say: Surely you used to come to us from the right side. 28 They answer: Nay, but ye (yourselves) were not believers. 29 we had no power over you; but you yourselves were a rebellious people. 30 and so we became deserving of the Word of our Lord that we shall be made to suffer chastisement. 31 We led you astray as we were ourselves astray." 32 So indeed they, that Day, will be sharing in the punishment. 33 This is how We deal with the guilty. 34 For when it was said unto them, There is no Allah save Allah, they were scornful 35 And say: "What! shall we give up our gods for the sake of a Poet possessed?" 36 Rather, the Prophet has come with the truth and confirmed the [previous] messengers. 37 Indeed, you [disbelievers] will be tasters of the painful punishment, 38 And ye shall be required not except for that which ye have been doing; 39 Save the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 40 For them there will be a known provision (in Paradise). 41 as the fruits [of their life on earth]; and honoured shall they be 42 in gardens of bliss, 43 sitting face to face upon couches, 44 A bowl shall be made to go round them from water running out of springs, 45 White and delicious to the drinkers; 46 There will neither be any harm in it for their body nor will it intoxicate their mind. 47 And besides them will be chaste women, restraining their glances, with big eyes (of wonder and beauty). 48 like closely guarded pearls. 49 They will turn to one another with questions: 50 Said one of the speakers: "I had a friend 51 who would say, "Are you a confirmer? 52 That when we have died and become dust and bones, we will indeed be recompensed?'" 53 He said: 'Will you look down?' 54 And he will look and see him in the midst of the Hellfire. 55 He saith: By Allah, thou verily didst all but cause my ruin, 56 And had it not been for the favor of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought up. 57 What, do we then not die 58 except for our first death, and are we not chastised? 59 Most surely this is the mighty achievement. 60 It is for the like of this that all should strive. 61 Is that better as a hospitality, or the Tree of Ez-Zakkoum? 62 We have indeed made that a punishment for the unjust. 63 Indeed, it is a tree issuing from the bottom of the Hellfire, 64 its spathes are as the heads of Satans, 65 Then most surely they shall eat of it and fill (their) bellies with it. 66 Then most surely they shall have after it to drink of a mixture prepared in boiling water. 67 then their return is unto Hell. 68 They found their fathers in error, 69 So they hastily follow their footsteps! 70 And truly before them, many of the ancients went astray;- 71 and We had sent among them Messengers to warn them. 72 Therefore see what sort of fate befell those who were warned! 73 Except the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 74
