۞ “Gather all the unjust persons and their spouses, and all that they used to worship!” – 22 Besides Allah, then lead them to the way to hell. 23 And halt them so that they may be questioned. 24 "'What is the matter with you that ye help not each other?'" 25 No indeed; but today they resign themselves in submission 26 They will turn upon one another, and question one another. 27 Saying: "It were you who imposed yourselves upon us." 28 They will say: “Nay, you yourselves were not the ones who would believe. 29 we had no authority over you; no, you were an insolent people. 30 “So the Word of our Lord has proved true upon us; we will surely have to taste (the punishment).” 31 "We led you astray: for truly we were ourselves astray." 32 On that day they will all share the torment. 33 Verily We! in this wise We deal with the culprits. 34 When they were told, "There is no deity but God," they turned away with disdain, 35 and would say: "Shall we, then, give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 Rather, the Prophet has come with the truth and confirmed the [previous] messengers. 37 Ye shall indeed taste of the Grievous Penalty;- 38 You will only be recompensed according to your deeds.” 39 Save the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 40 For them there will be a known provision (in Paradise). 41 a variety of delicious fruits; and they shall be honoured 42 in gardens of bliss, 43 facing one another [in love] upon thrones of happiness. 44 They will be served with a cup full of crystal clear wine, 45 Clear, delicious to drink, 46 causing no headiness or intoxication. 47 And with them will be maidens (houris) who restrain their wide glances 48 As though they were eggs hidden. 49 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 50 The speaker among them said, “I had a companion.” – 51 who used to say: -- Are you also one of those who confirm the Truth (of life after death)? 52 (Do you think) we would be paid back our due when we are dead and reduced to dust and bones?' 53 And he will reply: 'Are you looking down (into Hell)' 54 Then he will look and see him in the midst of the Fire. 55 And he will say: by Allah, thou hadst wellnigh causedest me to perish. 56 Had I not the guidance of my Lord, I would certainly have been brought into torment". 57 Then, are we not to die 58 except for our first death, and are we not chastised? 59 Indeed, this is the mighty victory, 60 For the like of this then let the workers work. 61 So is this welcome better, or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 Which We have reserved as punishment for evil-doers? 63 It is a tree that grows from the bottom of Hell; 64 Its crop is as it were the heads of devils 65 Truly, they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then after it, indeed for them is the drink of boiling hot water. 67 then surely they shall return to Hell. 68 Verily, they found their fathers on the wrong path; 69 So they (too) were rushed down on their footsteps! 70 And there had already strayed before them most of the former peoples, 71 and We had sent among them Messengers to warn them. 72 Look, then how was the end of those who had been warned, 73 EXCEPT for God's true servants, [most people are apt to go astray.] 74
