۞ [The angels will be ordered], "Gather those who committed wrong, their kinds, and what they used to worship 22 Other than Allah, and guide them to the path of Hellfire 23 “And stop them – they are to be questioned.” 24 'But what is the matter with you that you cannot help one another?,'" 25 Nay, but that day they shall submit (to Judgment); 26 They will then turn towards each other (and start wrangling). 27 Saying: "It were you who imposed yourselves upon us." 28 The oppressors will say, "Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers, 29 “And we did not have any control over you; but in fact you yourselves were rebellious.” 30 But now our Sustainer's word has come true against us [as well]: verily, we are bound to taste [the fruit of our sins]. 31 So we led you astray; we ourselves were strayed.” 32 On that day they will all share the torment. 33 This is how We deal with the guilty. 34 for when it was said to them, 'There is no god but God,' they were ever waxing proud, 35 and replied, "Shall we then give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 "Surely, he has brought the truth, confirming those who were sent before; 37 You will indeed taste a painful punishment, 38 and not be recompensed, except according to what you were doing.' 39 But the bondmen of Allah, the sincere ones 40 Whose provision is predetermined -- 41 a variety of delicious fruits; and they shall be honoured 42 In gardens of delight, 43 Facing each other on Thrones (of Dignity): 44 a cup from a spring being passed round to them, 45 White, delicious to those who drink. 46 Neither dulling the senses nor intoxicating, 47 And with them will be chaste females, restraining their glances (desiring none except their husbands), with wide and beautiful eyes. 48 As if they were eggs carefully protected. 49 Then one turned to the other in an enquiry. 50 A speaker of them will say: "Verily, I had a companion (in the world), 51 Who said: What! are you indeed of those who accept (the truth)? 52 Shall we be recompensed for our deeds after we die and become bones and dust? 53 (A voice) said: "Would ye like to look down?" 54 Then he looked down and saw him in the midst of hell. 55 'By God', he said, 'you had almost ruined me. 56 If it had not been for the blessing of my Lord, I would also have been taken to Hell." 57 What, do we then not die 58 "Except our first death, and that we shall not be punished?" 59 This is certainly the greatest triumph 60 For this the toilers should strive." 61 Is Paradise a better accommodation or the tree of zaqqum? 62 We have made this (tree) a trial for the evildoers. 63 Indeed it is a tree that sprouts from the base of hell. 64 Its spathes are like the prickly pear. 65 So indeed they will eat from it, and fill their bellies with it. 66 Then indeed, they will have after it a mixture of scalding water. 67 And once again: Verily, the blazing fire is their ultimate goal 68 Verily they found their fathers gone astray. 69 and rushed to follow them. 70 yet before them most of the ancients went astray, 71 although, verily, We had sent warners unto them: 72 and behold what happened in the end to those that had been warned [to no avail]! 73 except for the chosen servants of Allah? 74
