And Noah had certainly called Us, and [We are] the best of responders. 75 We saved him and his people from the great distress, 76 And, his progeny, them We made the survivors (i.e. Shem, Ham and Japheth). 77 And We left (this blessing) for him among generations to come in later times: 78 Peace be upon Noah among all the nations. 79 This is how We reward the virtuous. 80 he was truly one of Our faithful servants. 81 We then drowned the others. 82 ۞ Of his party was also Abraham; 83 When he came to his Lord with a pure heart, 84 and said to his father and his people: “Whom do you worship? 85 “What! You desire, through fabrication, Gods other than Allah?” 86 What is then your idea about the Lord of the worlds? 87 He then shot a glance at the stars. 88 And he said, "I am indeed sick (at heart)!" 89 But they turned their backs on him and went away. 90 Then turned he to their gods and said: Will ye not eat? 91 "What is the matter with you that ye speak not (intelligently)?" 92 Then did he turn upon them, striking (them) with the right hand. 93 Thereupon the people came running to him. 94 He said: Worship ye that which ye yourselves do carve 95 "But Allah has created you and your handwork!" 96 They exclaimed: "Build a pyre for him, and cast him into the blazing fire!" 97 (This failing), they then sought a stratagem against him, but We made them the ones most humiliated! 98 He said: 'I will go to my Lord; He will guide me. 99 My Lord, grant me a righteous (son)' 100 And We gave him the glad tidings of a very gentle son (Ishmael). 101 And [one day,] when [the child] had become old enough to share in his [father's] endeavours, the latter said: "O my dear son! I have seen in a dream that I should sacrifice thee: consider, then, what would be thy view!" [Ishmael] answered: "O my father! Do as thou art bidden: thou wilt find me, if God so wills, among those who are patient in adversity!" 102 Then, when they had both submitted themselves (to the Will of Allah), and he had laid him prostrate on his forehead (or on the side of his forehead for slaughtering); 103 We called out to him, "Abraham, 104 You have indeed shown the truth of the vision; surely thus do We reward the doers of good: 105 Lo! that verily was a clear test. 106 And We ransomed him with a mighty sacrifice, 107 and left him thus to be succeeded by a group [of followers] among later generations: 108 Salamun (peace) be upon Ibrahim (Abraham)!" 109 Thus indeed do We reward those who do right. 110 for he was truly one of our believing servants. 111 And We gave him the glad tidings of Ishaq, a Herald of the Hidden, from among those who deserve Our proximity. 112 And We blessed him and Isaac. Among their descendants are some who do good, but some who wrong themselves. 113
