Yet Aaron had aforetime said to them, 'My people, you have been tempted by this thing, no more; surety your Lord is the All-merciful; therefore follow me, and obey my commandment!' 90 They said: "We will not stop worshipping it (i.e. the calf), until Musa (Moses) returns to us." 91 Said Moosa, “O Haroon – what prevented you when you saw them going astray?” 92 So that you did not follow me? Did you then disobey my order? 93 [Aaron] said, "O son of my mother, do not seize [me] by my beard or by my head. Indeed, I feared that you would say, 'You caused division among the Children of Israel, and you did not observe [or await] my word.' " 94 [Moses] said, "And what is your case, O Samiri?" 95 He said, "I saw what they did not see, so I took a handful [of dust] from the track of the messenger and threw it, and thus did my soul entice me." 96 'Begone! Your lot in this life is to cry: "untouchable!' said he (Moses). 'An appointment awaits you that you cannot fail to keep. Look at your god which you clung to indeed we will burn it and scatter its ashes upon the sea' 97 But the god of you all is the One Allah: there is no god but He: all things He comprehends in His knowledge. 98 Thus do We relate to you (some) of the news of what has gone before; and indeed We have given to you a Reminder from Ourselves. 99 Whoso turneth away from it, he verily will bear a burden on the Day of Resurrection, 100 They will abide in that (state in the Fire of Hell), and evil indeed will it be that load for them on the Day of Resurrection; 101 The Day whereon the trumpet will be blown into, and We shall gather the culprits on that Day blear-eyed, 102 They shall consult together secretly: You did tarry but ten (centuries). 103 We know best what they say. The moderate ones among them will say, "You did not live on earth for more than a day." 104
