We certainly bestowed Our favor upon Moses and Aaron 114 And We saved them and their people from the great distress; 115 and We helped them, so that they were victorious; 116 We gave them the enlightening Book, 117 and guided them the straight way, 118 and left them thus to be remembered among later generations: 119 Peace be with Moses and Aaron. 120 Even so We recompense the good-doers; 121 They were two of Our believing servants. 122 Elias too was one of the Envoys; 123 When he said to his people, "Will you not fear Allah? 124 Do you call on Ba'lan (the idol Baal) and abandon the Best Creator, 125 "Allah, your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers?" 126 They denied him, and will surely be brought to punishment, 127 Except the chosen creatures of God. 128 We perpetuated his praise in the later generations. 129 Peace be on Elias. 130 It is thus indeed that We reward those who do good: 131 surely he was one of Our believing servants. 132 Lot, too, was among the Messengers. 133 When We delivered him and his followers, all-- 134 except an old woman who was among those that stayed behind; 135 Then We destroyed the rest [i.e. the towns of Sodom at the place of the Dead Sea (now) in Palestine]. [See the "Book of History" by Ibn Kathir]. 136 And lo! ye verily pass by (the ruin of) them in the morning 137 And at night. Then will you not use reason? 138
