The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the sun and its heat and brightness, 1 And the moon as she follows in his wake, 2 And [by] the day when it displays it 3 The night when it covers him over, 4 And by oath of the heaven and by oath of Him Who made it. 5 And [by] the earth and He who spread it 6 And [by] the soul and He who proportioned it 7 And inspired in it the knowledge of its sins and its piety. 8 prosperous is he who purified it, 9 and truly lost is he who buries it [in darkness]. 10 The tribe of Thamud denied with rebellion. 11 when that most hapless wretch from among them rushed forward [to commit his evil deed,] 12 And the messenger of Allah said: It is the she-camel of Allah, so let her drink! 13 But they denied him, and they hamstrung her, so Allah doomed them for their sin and rased (their dwellings). 14 God is not afraid of the result of what He had decreed. 15
