Hizb 46
< random >
So also was Jonah among those sent (by Us). 139 when he fled like a runaway slave onto a laden ship. 140 and cast lots, and was of the rebutted, 141 [and they cast him into the sea,] whereupon the great fish swallowed him, for he had been blameworthy. 142 Had he not been one of those who glorify Allah, 143 He would have tarried in the belly thereof till the Day when they are raised. 144 ۞ But We cast him forth on the naked shore in a state of sickness, 145 and We caused a pumpkin tree to grow over him. 146 And We sent him (on a mission) to a hundred thousand (men) or more. 147 and they believed. So We let them enjoy life for a while. 148 So ask their opinion: “(Are you convinced) that your Lord should have daughters and you should have sons? 149 Did We create the angels as females the while they witnessed?” 150 It is only because of their false invention that they say, 151 'God has begotten?' They are truly liars. 152 (And again of their falsehood): He hath preferred daughters to sons. 153 “What is the matter with you? What sort of a judgement you impose!” 154 Will you then not take heed? 155 Or have you a clear authority? 156 Then produce your scripture, if you should be truthful. 157 They have established a kinship between Allah and the angels; and the angels know well that these people will be arraigned (as culprits). 158 Glorified be Allah from that which they attribute (unto Him), 159 except for God's sincere servants. 160 So indeed, you [disbelievers] and whatever you worship, 161 Cannot lead astray [turn away from Him (Allah) anyone of the believers], 162 except those who will burn in Hell. 163 [The angels say], "Every single one of us has his place assigned: 164 we are the rangers, 165 and we are of those who glorify Allah.” 166 And indeed they (Arab pagans) used to say; 167 "If we had a reminder as had the men of old (before the coming of Prophet Muhammad SAW as a Messenger of Allah). 168 "We should certainly have been Servants of Allah, sincere (and devoted)!" 169 And yet, [now that this divine writ has been placed before them,] they refuse to acknowledge it as true! In time, however, they will come to know [what it was that they had rejected]: 170 Our word had already been given before to Our votaries, the apostles, -- 171 That verily they! they shall be made triumphant. 172 and that it is Our host that would certainly triumph. 173 So turn away (O Muhammad SAW) from them for a while, 174 Watch them: they will soon see. 175 Do they really wish to hasten Our punishment? 176 But when it descends into the open space before them, evil will be the morning for those who were warned (and heeded not)! 177 So turn (O Muhammad SAW) away from them for a while, 178 and see, soon they shall see! 179 Glory be to thy Lord, the Lord of Glory, above that they describe! 180 And peace be unto those sent (to warn). 181 and all praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Universe. 182
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
End of Surah: The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat). Sent down in Mecca after Animals (Al-An 'aam) before Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
