And verily Yunus was of the sent ones. 139 When he ran to the laden ship, 140 So he shared (with them), but was of those who are cast off. 141 Then a fish swallowed him, and he was blameworthy. 142 And were he not one of those who praise. – 143 He would have tarried in the belly thereof till the Day when they are raised. 144 ۞ Then We cast him on a desert shore while he was sick; 145 and caused a creeping plant to grow over him [out of the barren soil]. 146 And We sent him to [his people of] a hundred thousand or more. 147 and they believed in him: so We let them live in ease for a while. 148 Now ask thou them: are there for thy Lord daughters and for them sons? 149 Or did We create the angels females, while they were witnesses? 150 Lo! it is of their falsehood that they say: 151 " Allah has begotten," and indeed, they are liars. 152 Has He chosen daughters in preference to sons? 153 What is [wrong] with you? How do you make judgement? 154 Will you not then remember? 155 Or, do you have a clear authority? 156 Produce, then, that divine writ of yours, if you are speaking the truth! 157 And they have made between Him and the jinn a kinship whereas the jinn assuredly know that they are to be brought up 158 Hallowed be Allah from that which they ascribe to Him. 159 except the servants of God, sincere and devoted. 160 Wherefore verily neither ye nor that which ye worship, 161 cannot mislead anyone 162 except him who shall roast in Hell. 163 (Gabriel said to the Prophet): 'Each of us has a known place. 164 we are the rangers, 165 and we are of those who glorify Allah.” 166 And they surely were wont to say: 167 If we had the account of earlier people with us, 168 we would surely have been Allah's chosen servants.” 169 But (now that the Qur'an has come), they reject it: But soon will they know! 170 Already has Our Word been passed before (this) to our Servants sent (by Us), 171 assuredly they shall be helped, 172 And surely, only Our army will be victorious. 173 So turn thou from them for a while, 174 And see [what will befall] them, for they are going to see. 175 Do they seek to hasten on Our Torment? 176 When it descends upon their courtyards, evil will be the morning of those forewarned. 177 Stay away from them for a while 178 And wait, for they will soon see. 179 Exalted is your Lord, the Lord of might, above what they describe. 180 And peace is upon the Noble Messengers. 181 and praise be to God, the Lord of all the Worlds. 182
