So also was Jonah among those sent (by Us). 139 When he ran away (like a slave from captivity) to the ship (fully) laden, 140 cast lots, and was among the losers. 141 Then he was swallowed by a large fish as he was worthy of blame. 142 and had he not been among those who exalt (Allah), 143 He would have tarried in the belly thereof till the Day when they are raised. 144 ۞ We cast him out of the fish unto dry land and he was sick. 145 And We caused a tree of gourd to grow above him; 146 We sent him as a messenger to a hundred thousand people or more, 147 So they accepted faith – We therefore gave them usage for a while. 148 (Muhammad), ask them, "Do daughters belong to your Lord and sons to them? 149 Have We created the angels as females before their very eyes? 150 Oh, verily, it is out of their own [inclination to] falsehood that some people assert, 151 "God has begotten [a son]"; and verily, they are lying [too, when they say,] 152 Has He chosen daughters in preference to sons? 153 What is amiss with you and your judgment? 154 What, and will you not remember? 155 Or have you clear evidence? 156 Then bring your scripture, if what you say is true. 157 They claim that He has kinship with the jinn, yet the jinn themselves know that they will be produced before Him [for judgement]. 158 Hallowed be Allah from that which they ascribe to Him. 159 Except the slaves of Allah, whom He choses (for His Mercy i.e. true believers of Islamic Monotheism who do not attribute false things unto Allah). 160 So, verily you (pagans) and those whom you worship (idols). 161 can lure away from God any 162 except him who shall roast in Hell. 163 Of us there is none but hath a station assigned. 164 “And indeed we, with our wings spread, await the command.” 165 And we are those who sing hallelujas to Him." 166 What though they would say, 167 “If only we had the Reminder which had been granted to the people of yore 168 We would certainly have been the servants of Allah-- the purified ones. 169 But they disbelieved in it; soon they shall know! 170 Already has Our Word been passed before (this) to our Servants sent (by Us), 171 that they shall receive Our help 172 And that Our hosts, they verily would be the victors. 173 So, [O Muhammad], leave them for a time. 174 And (then) see them, so they too shall see. 175 Then for Our punishment are they impatient? 176 Then when it descendeth unto them face to face, a hapless morn that shall be for those who were warned. 177 Hence, turn thou aside for a while from them, 178 and see; soon they shall see! 179 Too glorious is your Lord, the Lord of power, for what they ascribe to Him. 180 And Peace on the messengers! 181 and praise be to God, the Lord of all the Worlds. 182

عند قراءة القرآن الملون في وضعية اللغة العربية المرسومة بالأحرف الإنجليزية، قد لا تلاحظ وجود منظومة برمجية مصممة لمطابقة متطلبات علامات الوقف في النص العربي الأصلي. فكما تعلم، يحتوي القرآن على خمسة أنواع رئيسية من علامات الوقف. When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
