Verily Jonah is one of the apostles. 139 When he left towards the laden ship. 140 Then lots were drawn and he became of those who were pushed into the sea. 141 So the whale swallowed him, for he was blameworthy, 142 Had he not been one of those who glorify Allah, 143 He would have remained in its belly till the day when all will be raised. 144 ۞ Then We cast him on to the vacant surface of the earth while he was sick. 145 and We caused a pumpkin tree to grow over him. 146 And We sent him (on a mission) to a hundred thousand (men) or more. 147 And they believed, whrefore We let them enjoy life for a season. 148 Now ask them (O Muhammad): Hath thy Lord daughters whereas they have sons? 149 Or created We the angels females while they were present? 150 Lo! it is of their falsehood that they say: 151 'Allah has begotten' They are truly liars. 152 (And again of their falsehood): He hath preferred daughters to sons. 153 What is the matter with you, how is it that you judge? 154 Why do you not reflect? 155 Or is there for you a plain authority? 156 Bring your Book, if what you say is true! 157 They have established a kinship between Allah and the angels; and the angels know well that these people will be arraigned (as culprits). 158 God is too glorious for what they ascribe to Him 159 but not so the true servants of God, 160 For, verily, neither ye nor those ye worship- 161 Cannot lead astray [turn away from Him (Allah) anyone of the believers], 162 except him who shall roast in Hell. 163 (Gabriel said to the Prophet): 'Each of us has a known place. 164 Lo! we, even we are they who set the ranks, 165 We glorify God." 166 Even though they (unbelievers) say, 167 If we had the account of earlier people with us, 168 “We would certainly be the chosen bondmen of Allah.” 169 They therefore denied it, so they will soon come to know. 170 And verily Our word went forth of old unto Our bondmen sent (to warn) 171 assuredly they shall be helped, 172 and Our host -- they are the victors. 173 So turn thou away from them for a little while, 174 Watch them: they will soon see. 175 What, do they seek to hasten Our chastisement? 176 When it descends into their courtyard, it will be terrible for those who have already been warned. 177 Withdraw from them awhile 178 And watch, for they will soon see. 179 Exaltations be to your Lord, the Lord of Might, above that they describe! 180 And peace upon the messengers. 181 and praise belongs to God, the Lord of all Being. 182
