A crowd of earlier generations 39 And a multitude of those of later time. 40 The Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 41 In hot wind and boiling water, 42 and a shade of thick, pitch-black smoke, 43 neither cool nor good. 44 Surely they were before that made to live in ease and plenty. 45 And were persisting in great sin (joining partners in worship along with Allah, committing murders and other crimes, etc.) 46 And they used to say: "When we die and become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be resurrected? 47 Will our ancient forefathers be resurrected too? 48 Say (O Muhammad SAW): "(Yes) verily, those of old, and those of later times. 49 shall be gathered to the appointed time of a known day. 50 Then you people who had gone astray and rejected the Truth 51 "You verily will eat of the trees of Zaqqum. 52 filling your bellies with it; 53 And upon it, you will drink the hot boiling water. 54 lapping it down like thirsty camels.' 55 This is their entertainment on the day of requital. 56 It is We who have created you. Why then did you not testify to the Truth? 57 Have you seen sperm? 58 Is it you who create it (i.e. make this semen into a perfect human being), or are We the Creator? 59 It was We who decreed death among you. We will not be surpassed 60 that We may exchange the likes of you, and make you to grow again in a fashion you know not. 61 And you have indeed learnt about the first creation, so why do you not ponder? 62 Tell Me! The seed that you sow in the ground. 63 is it you that sow it, or are We the Sower? 64 Had We wanted, We could have crushed it to bits and you would have been left to lament, 65 'We are debt-loaded; 66 Rather, we have been deprived." 67 Behold! the water which ye drink: 68 Is it you that send it down from the clouds, or are We the senders? 69 Had We wanted, We could have made it salty. Why then do you not give thanks? 70 So what is your opinion regarding the fire which you kindle? 71 Is it you who have brought into being the tree that serves as its fuel - or are We the cause of its coming into being? 72 We made it a reminder and a provision for the needy. 73 Therefore (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) proclaim the Purity of the name of your Lord, the Greatest. 74
