S (Saad)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Sad. By the Qur'an full of admonition. 1 Verily those who disbelieve are in vainglory and schism. 2 How many generations have We destroyed before them who cried (for mercy) when it was too late for escape. 3 They wondered that a warner had come to them from among themselves, and the deniers of the Truth said: “This is a sorcerer, and a big liar. 4 What! makes he the gods a single Allah? A strange thing is this, to be sure! 5 A group of the pagans walked out of a meeting with the Prophet and told the others, "Let us walk away. Be steadfast in the worship of your gods. This man wants to dominate you. 6 We have not heard of this in the last religion; this is surely an invention. 7 To him of all of us has the Reminder been sent down?" They are still in doubt about My admonition; but they have not tasted My punishment yet! 8 Do they have the stores of the mercy of your Lord, the mighty and munificent? 9 Or do they possess the dominion of the heavens and the earth and of all that is in between them? If so, let them ascend the heights of the realm of causation and see! 10 [But] there it is: any and all human beings, however [strongly] leagued together, are bound to suffer defeat [whenever they refuse to accept the truth]. 11 Before them, the people of Nooh had denied, and the tribe of A’ad, and Firaun who used to crucify. 12 and so did Thamud and the people of Lot and the people of Aykah. These were all leagued together. 13 not one, that cried not lies to the Messengers, so My retribution was just. 14
