S (Saad)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Suad, I swear by the Quran, full of admonition. 1 Those who deny the truth are steeped in arrogance and hostility. 2 How many ancient generations did We destroy? (On facing Our torment) they cried out for help, but it was too late for them to escape. 3 Now these [people] deem it strange that a warner should have come unto them from their own midst - and [so] the deniers of the truth are saying: "A [mere] spellbinder is he, a liar! 4 "Has he made the gods (all) into one Allah? Truly this is a wonderful thing!" 5 And the elders among them went forth saying: “Go ahead and be steadfast in adhering to your deities. What is being said is with a design.” 6 We have not heard of any such thing in the old religion. This is nothing but a fabrication. 7 To him of all of us has the Reminder been sent down?" They are still in doubt about My admonition; but they have not tasted My punishment yet! 8 Or do they [think that they] own the treasures of thy Sustainer's grace - [the grace] of the Almighty, the Giver of Gifts? 9 Or, is theirs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and that which is in-between the twain? If so, let them ascend by steps. 10 (As they denied Allah's Message) they will be a defeated host like the confederates of the old times (who were defeated). 11 Before them there have belied the people of Nuh and the 'Aad, and Fir'awn the owner of the stakes. 12 So also did the people of Thamud, Lot, and the dwellers of the Forest. 13 Not one of them but belied the Messengers, therefore My Torment was justified, 14
