And We did not create the heaven and the earth and that between them aimlessly. That is the assumption of those who disbelieve, so woe to those who disbelieve from the Fire. 27 [For,] would We treat those who have attained to faith and do righteous deeds in the same manner as [We shall treat] those who spread corruption on earth? Would We treat the God-conscious in the same manner as the wicked? 28 This is a Book which We have sent down upon you, a blessed Book, for them to ponder upon its verses, and for men of intellect to accept advice. 29 And We gave unto David Solomon; how excellent a servant he was! He was a penitent. 30 When fast footed steeds were presented to him at evening. 31 He said: verily I have loved the love of earthly good above the remembrance of my Lord until the sun hath disappeared behind the veil. 32 "Bring them back unto me!" - and would [lovingly] stroke their legs and their necks. 33 Indeed, We tried Solomon and placed a body (of a child) upon his throne, then he repented. 34 Saying: "O Lord, forgive me, and give me such a dominion as none will merit after me. You are the great bestower." 35 Then We subjected to him the wind: it ran gently by his command withersoever he directed. 36 and all the devils who built and dived for him. 37 And also others bound in fetters. 38 This is Our free gift, therefore give freely or withhold, without reckoning. 39 And verily, he enjoyed a near access to Us, and a good final return (Paradise). 40
