Remember also Our servant Job; when he called to his Lord, 'Behold, Satan has visited me with weariness and chastisement.' 41 We said, "Stamp your foot! Here is cool water for you to wash in and drink," 42 And We gave to him his family, and the like of them with them, as a mercy from us, and a reminder unto men possessed of minds; 43 We told him, "Take a handful of straw. Strike your wife with it to fulfill your oath." We found him to be patient. What an excellent servant he was. He was certainly most repenting. 44 And remember Our servants, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - those of strength and [religious] vision. 45 We gave them this pure distinction because of their continual remembrance of the Day of Judgment. 46 and, in Our sight they were indeed among the select, the truly good! 47 And make mention of Ishmael and Elisha and Dhu'l-Kifl. All are of the chosen. 48 This is a Reminder, and verily, for the Muttaqun (pious and righteous persons - see V. 2:2) is a good final return (Paradise), 49 Gardens of Eden, whereof the gates are opened for them, 50 They will be resting therein and will be able to ask for many kinds of fruit and drink. 51 ۞ and wherein there shall be with them well-matched, bashful mates. 52 This is what you are promised for the Day of Reckoning: 53 this is Our unending provision' 54 All this [for the righteous]: but, verily, the most evil of all goals awaits those who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right: 55 They will suffer in hell. What a terrible dwelling! 56 This, [then, for them] so let them taste it: burning despair and ice-cold darkness 57 And other similar torments. 58 (We shall say to their leaders): 'This is a troop rushing in with you, there is no welcome for them, they shall roast in the Fire' 59 The followers will say, “In fact, for you! May you not get open space! It is you who brought this calamity upon us!” So what a wretched destination. 60 They will say: "Our Lord! whoever brought this upon us,- Add to him a double Penalty in the Fire!" 61 And they will say: "What has happened to us that we see not men whom we used to number among the bad ones? 62 Was it that we (only) took them in scorn, or have our eyes (now) turned aside from them? 63 Lo! that is very truth: the wrangling of the dwellers in the Fire. 64
