Did you not see those who dispute concerning Allah's Signs? Whence are they, then, being turned astray? 69 they who give the lie to this divine writ and [thus] to all [the messages] with which We sent forth Our apostles [of old]? But in time they will come to know [how blind they have been: they will know it on Judgment Day,] 70 When carcans are about their necks and chains. They are dragged 71 and are dragged into burning despair, and in the end become fuel for the fire [of hell]. 72 Then they will be asked, "Where are the idols which you worshipped besides God?" 73 Other than Allah?" They will say, "They have departed from us; rather, we did not used to invoke previously anything." Thus does Allah put astray the disbelievers. 74 “This is the recompense of your being happy upon falsehood in the earth, and the recompense of your conceit.” 75 Enter the gates of hell to abide therein, evil then is the abode of the proud. 76 Then have patience (O Muhammad). Lo! the promise of Allah is true. And whether we let thee see a part of that which We promise them, or (whether) We cause thee to die, still unto Us they will be brought back. 77 Indeed We sent many Messengers before you: of them there are some whose account We have narrated to you and there are others whose account We have not narrated to you. It did not lie in any Messenger's power to bring any Sign except with Allah's leave. So when Allah's decree came, the matter was decided with justice, and those steeped in error courted utter loss, then and there. 78
