ART THOU NOT aware of how far they who call God's messages in question have lost sight of the truth? 69 Those who deny the Scripture and that wherewith We send Our messengers. But they will come to know, 70 When the shackles are around their necks and the chains; they will be dragged 71 In boiling water; they will then be ignited* in the fire. (Like fuel – see verse 2:24) 72 Then they will be asked, "Where are the idols which you worshipped besides God?" 73 They shall say, 'They have gone astray from us; nay, but it was nothing at all that we called upon aforetime.' Even so God leads astray the unbelievers. 74 'That is because you rejoiced in the earth without right, and were exultant. 75 Enter Hell now to abide in it. How woeful is the abode of those who wax proud! 76 So be patient, surely the promise of Allah is true. So should We make you see part of what We threaten them with, or should We cause you to die, to Us shall they be returned. 77 Indeed We sent many Messengers before you: of them there are some whose account We have narrated to you and there are others whose account We have not narrated to you. It did not lie in any Messenger's power to bring any Sign except with Allah's leave. So when Allah's decree came, the matter was decided with justice, and those steeped in error courted utter loss, then and there. 78
