Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ha Mim: 1 THE BESTOWAL from on high [of this revelation] issues from the Most Gracious, the Dispenser of Grace: 2 A Book, whereof the verses are explained in detail;- a Qur'an in Arabic, for people who understand;- 3 Giving good news and admonition: yet most of them turn away, and so they hear not. 4 And they say, "Our hearts are encased against that to which you call us, and there is a heaviness in our ears, and there is a barrier between us, so do as you will and so shall we." 5 Say thou, [O Prophet:] "I am but a mortal like you. It has been revealed to me that your God is the One God: go, then, straight towards Him and seek His forgiveness!" And woe unto those who ascribe divinity to aught beside Him, 6 Who give not the poor-due, and who are disbelievers in the Hereafter. 7 As to those who have faith and do good works, surely theirs shall be a never-ending reward. 8
