The Amramites (Al-Imraan)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Alif, Lam, Mim. 1 Allah! There is no god save Him, the Alive, the Eternal. 2 He has sent the Book (Quran) to you (Muhammad) in all Truth. It confirms the original Bible. He revealed the Torah and the Gospel 3 aforetime, as a guidance unto mankind, and it is He who has bestowed [upon man] the standard by which to discern the true from the false. Behold, as for those who are bent on denying God's messages - grievous suffering awaits them: for God is almighty, an avenger of evil. 4 Allah-- surely nothing is hidden from Him in the earth or in the heaven. 5 He it is Who fashioneth you in the wombs as pleaseth Him. There is no Allah save Him, the Almighty, the Wise. 6 It is He Who has revealed the Book to you. Some of its verses are absolutely clear and lucid, and these are the core of the Book. Others are ambiguous. Those in whose hearts there is perversity, always go about the part which is ambiguous, seeking mischief and seeking to arrive at its meaning arbitrarily, although none knows their true meaning except Allah. On the contrary, those firmly rooted in knowledge say: 'We believe in it; it is all from our Lord alone.' No one derives true admonition from anything except the men of understanding. 7 Our Lord! suffer not our hearts to deviate after that Thou hast guided us, and bestow on us from Thine presence mercy. Verily Thou! Thou art the Bestower! 8 Lord, it is certain that one day You will gather all the people together. God does not break His promise." 9
