Consultation (Al-Shooraa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha-Meem. (Alphabets of the Arabic language – Allah, and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) 1 Ayn. Sin. Qaf. 2 (Muhammad), this is how God, the Majestic and All-wise, sends revelations to you and sent them to those who lived before you. 3 To Him belongs whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth; and He is the All-high, the All-glorious. 4 Well-nigh the heavens might be rent in sunder from above them. And the angels hallow the praise of their lord and ask forgiveness for these on the earth. Lo! Verily Allah! He is the Forgiver, the Merciful! 5 As for those who take guardians for themselves, other than Him, Allah is the Warden over them. You are not a guardian over them. 6 And this is how We have divinely revealed to you the Qur’an in Arabic, for you to warn the people of the mother of all towns – Mecca – and those around it, and to warn of the Day of Assembling of which there is no doubt; a group is in Paradise, and another group is in hell. 7 Had Allah willed, He could have made them one community, but Allah bringeth whom He will into His mercy. And the wrong-doers have no friend nor helper. 8 Or have they chosen protecting friends besides Him? But Allah, He (alone) is the Protecting Friend. He quickeneth the dead, and He is Able to do all things. 9
