If anyone withdraws himself from remembrance of (Allah) Most Gracious, We appoint for him an evil one, to be an intimate companion to him. 36 And verily they hinder them from the way, whilst they deem that they are rightly guided. 37 Till, when he cometh unto Us, he saith (unto his comrade): Ah, would that between me and thee there were the distance of the two horizons - an evil comrade! 38 It will be said [to such a person], "You have done wrong. Having partners in punishment will be of no avail to you today." 39 Canst thou then make the deaf to hear, or give direction to the blind or to such as (wander) in manifest error? 40 Even if We take you away, We shall take vengeance upon them, 41 Or (if) We show thee that wherewith We threaten them; for lo! We have complete command of them. 42 So hold fast to what has been revealed to you. Surely you are on the Straight Way. 43 And it is undoubtedly an honour for you and your people; and you will soon be questioned. 44 Inquire of apostles We had sent before you if We appointed gods to be worshipped other than Ar-Rahman. 45
