And whoever turns himself away from the remembrance of the Beneficent Allah, We appoint for him a Shaitan, so he becomes his associate. 36 And verily they hinder them from the way, whilst they deem that they are rightly guided. 37 Till, when (such a one) comes to Us, he says [to his Qarin (Satan / devil companion)] "Would that between me and you were the distance of the two easts (or the east and west)" a worst (type of) companion (indeed)! 38 And it will profit you not today, because ye have done wrong, that ye are in the torment sharers. 39 Canst thou then make the deaf to hear, or give direction to the blind or to such as (wander) in manifest error? 40 We shall revenge them either after your death 41 Or show you some of what We have promised them. They are certainly well within Our power. 42 Hold thou fast wherefore to that which is revealed unto thee: verily thou art on the straight path. 43 And most surely it is a reminder for you and your people, and you shall soon be questioned. 44 Ask those of Our messengers whom We sent before you, "Did We ever appoint gods to be worshipped besides the Beneficent One?" 45
